Genesis Field Notes is a notebook first, AI second. It is intended for writing, organizing, and connecting ideas in a local notebook that stays on your Mac.
Notebook data is stored locally at ~/Documents/Genesis Field Notes/. The app does not require an account, does not include advertising, and does not collect analytics or telemetry.

Where is my data stored?
On your Mac. The live notebook, snapshots, and backups are stored locally under ~/Documents/Genesis Field Notes/.
Do I need an account?
No. Genesis Field Notes is designed to work without user accounts or cloud sync.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Core notebook features work offline. Optional AI features require an internet connection and your own API key.
How do AI features work?
AI is off by default. If you enable it, you provide your own OpenAI API key, which is stored in the macOS Keychain. AI requests run only when you explicitly trigger them. See the AI Transparency page for details.
How do I export my notes?
Use the export options in the app to save your workbook or individual pages. Auto-backups are also written to the Backups folder in your Genesis Field Notes directory.
